Medicare and Medicaid generally cover charges for eligible individuals receiving qualifying home health care and hospice services. Private insurance carriers, including HMOs and PPOs, often cover home care services, but coverage levels and requirements vary. VNA Plus staff evaluates private insurance coverage prior to beginning services and ensures that patients and families understand the specifics of coverage; once services begin, staff also handles claims processing and all related paperwork for eligible services.

Private duty care that assists with daily living activities is not currently covered by Medicare, Medicaid or commercial insurance and must be paid for privately, by other government assistance programs, or through the use of some long-term care insurance policies or veterans’ benefits. VNA Plus Private Duty staff will gladly answer your questions and assist you in arranging for care that meets both your needs and budget.

To learn more about government funded assistance for home care and eligibility requirements, please contact the Southwestern Indiana Regional Council on Aging (SWIRCA & More).

VNA Plus is also a United Way agency. Care is provided to persons unable to pay whenever United Way funds are appropriate and available. To learn more about all types of payment options, please call or visit the VNA Plus office nearest you.
